About Greenfield Books -
Our shop and inventory
Thank you for visiting our internet book shop. Our "bricks and mortar" shop is located in the heart of the continent, but the majority of our business is done over the internet, at antiquarian book fairs, or by private treaty. Our stock consists of about 15,000 carefully chosen hard cover books. We try and maintain a strong and comprehensive inventory in the areas of:
We also carry a general stock, tending toward better books in superior condition. Books with dust jackets are wrapped in clear archival quality, protective acetate.
Our storefront location is called Bison Books and is located in downtown Winnipeg. It is stocked with approximately 20,000 better quality (mainly hardcover) books; with a particular emphasis on literary history and literary biographies. Please visit Bison Books at 265 Kennedy Street (204-947-5931), or email at mail@bisonbooks.ca The inventory at Bison Books can be searched by clicking here.
Our professional associations
We are members of The Manitoba Antiques Association, The Ephemera Society of America, the Antiquarian Booksellers Association of Canada (ABAC), and through the ABAC, we are affiliated with the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB) .
Catalogues
We now seldom issue paper catalogues as, with the advent of the Internet, details about all our stock are accessible through our web site. We do however have on-line catalogues of our holdings in the following areas: Aviation, Books about Books, Judaica, Law & True Crime, Medicine, Military History, Nautical, Polar Exploration, and Stamps & Coins. These catalogues are updated daily. Click here to access our online catalogues. We can also create and issue specialized lists sorted, at your request, by author, title, subject-matter, or key words. These lists can either be emailed, faxed, or posted to you. Digital photos of any book in stock are available upon request from a serious potential purchaser. (We do not normally provide photos to those conducting research, nor is it practical for us to provide photos of books priced at less than $25 unless there is a compelling reason to do so).
Other services
Recently, we began offering prints and engravings as well. The stock is small, but expanding steadily.
Other services we offer include:
| - Appraisals; - Customized book searches; - Repairs |
We buy books!
We also travel extensively throughout North America, England and Ireland, and
we would be glad to buy better quality books for which we will pay competitive
prices. Appointments can be arranged to either coordinate with our attendance at
books fairs or with our general buying trips. Please bear in mind that we are
primarily interested in what may be somewhat inelegantly described as "rare" or
"valuable" books, for which we pay top prices, with a premium offered for such
books in superior condition. If you have lists of books you wish to sell, by all
means post, fax or e-mail, such to us, but bear in mind that no decision to
purchase will be made until we have first had an opportunity to examine the
books.
