This is a selection of 33 stories, by various authors, from "Bentley's Miscellany" magazine. Each story is mostly humourous in nature and illustrated by a Cruikshank illustration "printed from the original etchings on steel". There is some offsetting of the
engravings to the text, but generally the engravings themselves are in very good condition (save for the spotting around the engravings, as noted). The binding has been recently, and professionally, restored. Notwithstanding, the boards still show wear to edges and some light soiling.Very small name stamp on front pastedown. Foredges a bit foxed; else in good plus condition. 1st ed. thus. Bound in red 3/4 leather.
