Primarily intended as a textbook, or a "Work chiefly designed for the Use of Youth", with a Life of Virgil, prefaces to each of the great poems, the Latin and English text on each page, along with comprehensive notes, and a complete index. Pagination: pp. lxviii, 353; 470, index. Gilt ruled spine with red morocco spine labels, dentilled edges. Boards bumped, lightly scuffed, and somewhat rounded at corners. Joints tight. Slight crack to hinge of vol. I; small, old worm hole to bottom hinge of vol. II (not affecting text or binding). Preliminary two pages of vol. II creased; else contents very clean and quite bright. Overall, in very good condition.
